Robert
Lorrigan (Writer/Director)
Robert was born in 1969 and grew up in Perth
until leaving to live abroad in 1991.
He now lives in Sydney and is developing two feature film projects: Fairytale
and Passengers. The latter saw Robert short-listed as a New screenwriter with
the Australian
Film Commission in 2001.
Robert has attended numerous short Directing programs at The Australian
Film Television and Radio School over 2001 and 2002.
Robert settled back in Sydney in 2001 after 4 years in the UK where he started
developing as a writer/director. He had support there through the Princes
Trust and a mentorship with Patricia Murphy Films, whilst working part-time
for various film organisations and companies including The New Producers Alliance,
The New York Film Festival and Starfield Productions which is owned by Paul
Rafael and his Oscar winning screenwriter father Frederic. While in the UK,
he also completed one short film Blunt (1998 film/dv, 7 minutes) as Writer/Director/Producer,
which appeared in amateur festivals in Berlin and Belguim.
Prior to turning to film Robert spent near 10 years in and around commercial
production. Starting out in still photography, then betacam camera assisting
and operating at sporting events, he moved into advertising starting in art
and production departments. Ending his career having worked both on the development
and production of campaigns for cinema and various forms of media as an in
agency Executive and Strategic/creative planner in Sydney - DAD&C and
London - BMPDDB. Brands ranged from NRMA and Speedo in Australia to Vodafone
global and PG Tips in the UK.
